Carla-Marie Weir, Director

Work and education related to parenting education:
Carla-Marie Weir is a nationally recognized bilingual (Spanish) trainer who has helped over 80 communities across the nation, and three internationally, implement a successful HIPPY program (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters). In her current capacity as Director of Texas HIPPY at the University of North Texas she has led the state in implementing the HIPPYCorps Initiative, statewide evaluation of the HIPPY program and the diffusion of HIPPY throughout Texas. As a volunteer with the National Cancer Society she was involved in the Entre Amigas project to encourage Hispanic women to engage in breast self examinations. She currently volunteers for Resolana, a non profit organization that brings art, music, yoga, dance and other enrichment and support to women in the Dallas County Jail. She is married to an elementary school principal, and they are the proud parents of two college aged daughters, Hannah and Sofia.
